The game was the season finale for both schools. NJCU finished at 1-11-1 (0-9-0 NJAC), dropping its final 10 games. The Raptors (5-11-2, 2-7 NJAC) snapped a three-game skid with the win, outshooting the Gothic Knights, 24-2, including 16-2 in the second half.
Prior to the game, NJCU honored its lone senior, four-year defender
KARLA REYES-ABRIL (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), on Senior Day. She had both of NJCU's shots in the outing.
In defeat, two-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference junior goalkeeper
BRITTANY HOFFMAN (McMurray, PA/Peters Township), the NCAA Division III leader in saves per game entering the contest (14.58), made seven stops. She finished the year with 182 saves, averaging exactly 14 saves per game.
Sophomore forward
CASSIE LUBONSKI (Edison, NJ/Edison), the program's backup keeper, made a team save in the 63
rd minute. NJCU, which entered the game leading the country in saves per game as a team (16.33 per game), finished the season averaging 15.69 per contest, which should be enough to capture the NCAA national statistical title in the category.
Three different players scored for the Raptors, led by freshman forward
Catherine Fiore (Oaklyn, NJ/Paul VI), who scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 12
th minute—her team-best fifth goal of the season—and assisted on the game's second goal in the 64
th minute.
Freshman forward
Sarah Boucot (Sickerville, NJ/Paul VI) netted her first collegiate goal for a 2-0 lead while junior defender
Lindsay Russo (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Regional) tallied her third goal of the season. Senior forward
Camille Graham (Washington Township, NJ/Washington Township) assisted on the game-winner.
Senior keeper
Leighanna Milby (Blackwood, NJ/Highland Regional) played 90 minutes in net without facing a shot on goal while registering Camden's seventh shutout of the season.
Camden got the only goal it needed at the 11:52 mark as
Graham chipped a ball into the box from the right wing that dropped between
Hoffman and two defenders, and before it could be cleared,
Fiore vaulted a shot over
Hoffman top shelf on the right side. The assist was
Graham's first of the year. The Raptors outshot NJCU, 8-0, in the first half.
Camden had breakaway chances in the 41
st and 62
nd minutes and several dangerous crosses thwarted by
Hoffman. At 62:00,
Boucot nearly scored before her shot from inside the six was cleared off the line on the left post by
Lubonski.
Two minutes later the Raptors did add an insurance goal as
Hoffman made a great save on an initial chance in front of the left post by
Fiore, only to see the rebound come right to the feet of
Boucot, for an easy follow at 63:57. The guests added a goal at the 79:55 mark when
Russo found the upper left corner from 25 yards out.
