The John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center features a 25-yard swimming and diving pool with adjacent sauna.

Among the programs offered are:

·         Learn to swim classes, levels 1 thru 5

o    Students

o    Faculty/Staff

o    Local community including adults and children

·         Lifeguarding lessons

·         Scuba diving lessons

 Recreational and intramural programs offered include:

·         Aqua Golf

·         Lap swim contest

·         Relay races

·         Underwater treasure hunt

·         Water Basketball

·         Water Polo (inter-tube)

To Register for Saturday Swimming Classes:

 

1.      Visit www.njcu.edu/swim

2.      Select the “Click Here to Register” button

3.      Select the level you would like to enroll in (make sure to review the time the requested level is being offered before completing registration)

4.      Follow the prompts to complete payment and then click “submit order”

5.      Once payment is complete you will receive an e-mail confirmation

6.      Return  to www.njcu.edu/swim and complete the Registration PDF file

7.      Return PDF to The Office of Community Recreation in the JMAC, Fax to 201-200-2365, or e-mail to comrec@njcu.edu

To register for private swimming lessons, please send a detailed request to comrec@njcu.edu

Important Note: Please register one participant at a time to ensure individual information is properly documented. 

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY

The New Jersey City University Department of Athletics, in its on-going efforts to ensure the safety of all patrons, is reminding the University community of its policy for usage of the pool at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center during instances of severe weather.  

 

In accordance with recommendations from the National Lightning Safety Institute, the JMAC pool will be closed to the public if the National Weather Service has issued a local severe weather warning. Additionally, the aquatics coordinator will make the decision to close the pool in the event of a localized severe weather.
