Hoffman went over the 400-save plateau for her career in the loss. She reached double figures in saves for the 16
th time in her career and fourth consecutive game in the loss as Kean outshot NJCU, 43-0—21 in the first half and 22 in the second period.
Kean, ranked No. 10 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III South Atlantic Region rankings, improved to 6-3-1 overall and 3-1 in the NJAC. NJCU fell to 1-6-1 (0-4 NJAC), dropping its fifth straight.
Kean notched goals in the third, 14
th, 22
nd and 49
th minutes and used 24 players in the game, with 15 registering a shot.
For Kean,
Angie Lopez scored what proved to be the winning goal at 2:08 of the action off an assist from
Kendyll Stahlin, putting away her seventh goal of the season on a centered ball off a rebound.
The Cougars made it 2-0 at 13:54 when
Sam Marchetti collected her third goal of the year as she knocked in the rebound of a saved header shot following a corner kick.
Amanda Repko was credited with her fourth assist of the season.
Stahlin and
Marchetti each finished with three points in the game as they teamed up at 21:09 for a 3-0 lead.
Marchetti fed a ball into the box from 20 yards out, allowing
Stahlin to net her first goal of the year from 12 yards away.
Kean added a fourth goal early in the second half (48:12) when
Jordyn Bronsky tallied her third goal of the season on a high line drive shot from 15 yards out.
KC Nunez (68:45) and Lauren Healey (21:15), split time in net in recording the shutout without facing a shot.
NJCU is back in action on Saturday, October 5 when it hosts Richard Stockton at 1 p.m. in NJAC action at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
