MONTCLAIR, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...The New Jersey City University women’s soccer team will have to wait one extra day for an opportunity to qualify for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in school history. The NJAC game between NJCU and Montclair State University scheduled for Wednesday, October 28 has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather.

The game, which likely will decide the sixth and final berth into the 2009 NJAC Tournament, will be played on Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m. on the turf Sprague Field at Montclair, rather than the grass surface at MSU Soccer Park.

NJCU is 12-7 and 3-5 in the NJAC, and currently holds sixth place in the league for the first time in program history with nine points. The red-hot Gothic Knights have won five of their last six games, and have outscored their opponents, 29-5, during that span, including back-to-back shutouts. NJCU enters the game with nine points. The Knights shutout Rutgers University-Camden, 1-0, on October 24 in Camden, NJ. That win was the first road conference victory in program history.

NJCU enters the game owning a shutout streak of 208:21. Its 74 goals are the third most in NCAA Division III thru October 26.

Montclair is 8-5-2 and seventh in the conference with a 2-4-2 ledger and eight points. MSU has dropped its past two games, being shutout in a pair of NJAC road setbacks to Richard Stockton College and William Paterson University.

The winner of the game will be no worst than the sixth seed in the NJAC Tournament. If Ramapo College defeats Kean University in Wednesday’s NJAC game in Mahwah, NJ, and the Gothic Knights can be victorious over Montclair, NJCU would finish as the fifth seed. The NJAC Tournament begins on October 31.
