AUGUSTA, NJ…The sun set on the 2009 baseball season…literally.
New Jersey City University could not make a 9-0 lead hold up, but showed the resilient offense that has carried it all season long as the Gothic Knights scored three times in the top of the ninth inning and forced a darkness-induced 18-18 tie with Centenary College, in a non-conference season finale played on Monday at Skylands Park.

New Jersey City University history to join the 100-hit club and the Gothic Knights jumped out to a 9-3 lead in game one, only to commit nine errors as Rutgers University-Camden rallied for a 16-11 win over the Knights in game one of a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader on late Saturday night at Campbell’s Field. TOM BURKE (Edison, NJ/Immaculata) drove in four runs, including a game-winning three-run homer in the top of the eighth as NJCU rallied to claim a 7-4 victory in game two of the twinbill. It was the final NJAC games of the year for both teams.
