Bobby Williams (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) shot a +15 round of 87 to open the 36-hole tournament. It was his third career round as NJCU's leader.
Williams was two shots in front of fellow sophomore
Alexander Sill (Hurley, N.Y./Kingston) who shot a +17 (89).
In their first collegiate rounds, freshmen
Daniel Gaul (Howell, N.J./Manalapan),
Daniel Natoli (Freehold Township, N.J./Manalapan) and
Cameron Arnold (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) all factored into the scoring with respectable scorecards as
Gaul shot a +18 (90)
—one shot better than both
Arnold and
Natoli.
NJCU shot a +69 round of 357 as a team on the 6,604-yard, par-72 course, measuring 3,312 yard on the front nine and 3,292 yards in. The Knights placed 11th of 12 teams. Clarkson University (+18, 306), owned a four-shot lead over NYU and Hamilton College after 18 holes.
