PITMAN, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...New Jersey City University freshman third baseman REBECCA SATZ (Morris Plains, NJ/Morristown) has been selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie Hitter of the Week for week seven of the 2010 season. The honor is the first of her promising collegiate career.

Satz led NJCU to a 5-3 week, as she batted .448 (13-29) with seven runs, seven RBIs, three steals and two doubles, notching at least one hit in seven games. She did not strikeout.

In a doubleheader against Ramapo College on April 13, she was a combined 3-for-6 with a double. In a sweep of Brooklyn College on the road on April 14, she was 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI in game one, and scored twice in game two.

In a road doubleheader sweep of the College of Mount Saint Vincent on April 15, she was a combined 5-for-8 with two RBIs, two runs and two steals. In game one, she was 2-for-4 with one run, adding two RBIs in a 3-for-4 effort with one run in game two.

In an NJAC doubleheader split against Rutgers-Newark on April 18, Satz was a combined 4-for-8 with two RBIs and two runs. In game one, she was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring a run as NJCU cut the deficit to 4-3. In game two, Satz went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Her RBI single in the first inning gave NJCU a 1-0 lead. Later, with the bases loaded in the second inning, Satz delivered a single up the middle for a 2-0 lead with two outs, before scoring on an NJCU grand slam.

Through games of April 18, Satz led NJCU in eight offensive categories—batting average (.404), hits (36), at bats (89), RBIs (25), doubles (8), total bases (47), slugging percentage (528) and fewest strikeouts (2). In 28 games and 28 starts, she is second on the team in runs scored (19),

Satz leads NJCU in eight major offensive categories.
homeruns (1), and on-base percentage (.419). Additionally, she has a .960 fielding percentage with only four errors in 101 chances at the hot corner and is 4-for-4 in stolen base opportunities. Satz has had a hit in 21 of 28 games, reaching base in 23 contests.

Satz
currently ranks third in the NJAC in batting average and is one of only four players league wide to be hitting .400 or better. Additionally, she is tied for the league lead in average with the bases loaded (1.000), second in percentage advancing runners (.712), ranks third in average against right-handers (.400), fourth in RBIs and average with runners on base (.440),  fifth in average with RBI opportunities (.450), sixth in hits, tied for seventh in doubles, 10th in average with two outs (.375), 11th in on-base percentage, and 12th in average versus lefties (.500).

Satz
is the second NJCU player to receive a conference award this season. NJCU rookie righty ASHLEY O’BEIRNE (Wood-Ridge, NJ/Immaculate Conception) was the NJAC and ECAC Division III Metro Pitcher of the Week after week two (March 15).
