NJCU, which bowled five traditional team games followed by one quad-Baker match, opened with an 851-827 decision against BCC. The Knights, who improved to 2-0 against the Wildcats this year, received a 243 from Jennifer Daunno to secure the win.
NJCU improved to 2-1 against FAMU this year, downing the Rattlers by 30 pins, 872-842, led by a 185 by Drejerwski. In the third match, NJCU suffered only its second 100-pin loss in traditional competition the entire season and both have come against UMES. The Hawks downed the Knights by 115 pins, winning 972-857. Jennifer Daunno and Marmo each rolled 181 games in the loss. UMES leads the season series, 3-0.
In the fourth match, the Knights rebounded nicely with a 121-pin, 950-829 win against Hampton, led by Brehm who entered as a reserve and uncorked a 209. NJCU is 3-1 against the Pirates this year. In match five, the Knights scored a lopsided, 245-pin win over Virginia State as Jennifer Daunno collected a 213. The Knights are 2-0 this year versus the Trojans.
In the only Baker match of the opening round, Kutztown posted back-to-back huge efforts in games two and three of the quad-Baker, rolling 224 and 242 consecutively, to win 806-663. NJCU, with a lineup of Jennifer Daunno, Brehm, D'Angelo, Drejerwski and Marmo, tallied scores of 170-169-165-159, but the Bears answered with a line of 171-224-242-169, breaking open a one-pin match with the 55-pin second game cushion and 77-pin third-game advantage. The 143-pin final result was only NJCU's second 100-pin quad-Baker setback of the season, but the Knights still lead the season series against Kutztown, 5-3.
