SPRINGFIELD
, MA…Freshman BRIAN BUCKNOR (Irvington, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) further solidified a berth in the 2009 NCAA Championship in the 400-meter dash, placing second overall, as he highlighted a 26th place finish for the New Jersey City University men’s outdoor track and field team on May 14 and 15 at the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship at Springfield College’s Blake Track in Springfield, MA.
 
In the scoring system that awards points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis for first through eighth place in each event, the Gothic Knights collected 12 points, placing 26th of the 56 schools that scored at least one point in the championship field.
 
Bucknor posted the ninth fastest time in the country this year and solidified his provisional qualification for the 2009 NCAA Championship in the 400, timing 48.16 seconds. He placed second of 25 athletes to earn All-ECAC honors in the event and earned eight of NJCU’s 12 team points. He easily surpassed the NCAA standard of 48.50 and was just 5/100th of a second behind SUNY-Cobleskill sophomore Carlton Wildman at 48.11.
 
Bucknor also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team, which consisted of sophomore ALEX BEST (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville), freshman ISHMEAL ROBBINS (Irvington, NJ/Irvington), sophomore MARC ROBINSON (Maplewood, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) and Bucknor. The tandem placed seventh of 30 teams in 3:19.64 as Best, Robbins, Robinson and Bucknor each earned All-ECAC honors in the event.
 
Sophomore NICK BRITT (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) collected All-ECAC honors in the discus throw, landing a distance of 44.88 meters (147-3) to place seventh of 23 finalists and earn two points towards the team score.
 
Robinson timed 22.49 seconds in the 200-meter dash trials, placing 14th, but was unable to improve upon his NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.70 in the event.
 
Robbins ran 11.55 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash and 22.72 seconds in the 200-meter dash trials, placing 21st in each event.

Bowling, 4 Final Fours
The NJCU Women's Bowling teams has been to the National Collegiate Final Four four times in the first seven years of the championship's history. NJCU appeared in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010, finishing 3rd in 2004 and 2008. NJCU also was fifth in 2005 and 2009.
Women's Volleyball, 2005 Champions

When the NJCU Women's Volleyball team won the 2005 New Jersey Athletic Conference championship, they became the first Gothic Knight team to win an NJAC women's title.
