Isaiah Johnson continues making his mark on the NJAC, winning the league's Rookie of the Week award for the third time in eight weeks.

PITMAN, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...New Jersey City University freshman power forward ISAIAH JOHNSON (East Orange, NJ/East Orange Campus) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time consecutive week and the third time this season. The award is for week eight of the 2009-10 season.
 
Johnson, who also earned the accolade on December 14 during week four and January 11 (week seven), averaged a double-double of 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game in two games for NJCU, shooting 61.5 percent from the field (8-13) and 9-of-15 (.600) from the line. He tallied 25 points and 21 rebounds in two games.
 
In a 68-58 win road over Lehman on January 11, Johnson scored 12 of NJCU’s first 25 points, opening the contest by shooting 3-of-3 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line. He finished with 14 points (4-5 FG, 6-9 FT) and seven rebounds. In the first half, Johnson had a basket with 7:53 left and later added two foul shots for a five-point margin, 21-19, with 6:44 to go.
 
In a crucial 69-55 NJAC home win over Montclair State University on January 13, Johnson notched his second double-double of the season, finishing with a game-best 14 rebounds, with 11 points (4-8 FG), three assists and two blocks. Literally from the opening tip, NJCU was in control as Johnson batted the opening jump ball to a teammate for two quick points. The Knights never trailed. After MSU cut it to two in the second half, Johnson’s basket made it 45-39.
 
Johnson did not make the trip to Rutgers University-Camden for NJCU’s 57-38 win due to an illness, which also kept him out of the Gothic Knights’ 79-38 win over New York City College of Technology on January 18
 
In 13 games this season (five starts), he has tallied 116 points and 90 rebounds (32 offensive, 51 defensive). He is averaging 8.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 0.8 steals, 0.7 blocks and 0.7 assists per game. Johnson is shooting 47.7 percent from the field (42-88) and .627 from the line (32-51). He has played 21.3 minutes per contest (277 minutes).
 
In the NJAC, thru January 20, he currently ranks second in offensive rebounding (45, 3.21 per game) and is eighth in rebounding. Johnson also lists 13th in field goal percentage, 14th in defensive rebounding (51, 3.64 per game), tied for 15th in blocks, 20th in free throw percentage, and 36th in scoring.
