CLINIC BROCHURE

JERSEY CITY, NJ…New Jersey City University
will host its second annual softball clinic from July 13-16 at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex on Route 440 South in Jersey City. The program is designed to improve skills for players aged 8-17, in a fun setting for young athletes, with instruction by the NJCU coaching staff and players.

The week-long camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Pre-registration is $150.00 per player for all activities or $160 to sign up on site.

NJCU head coach BRIDGETTE QUIMPO, who completed her sixth season with the program in 2009, will serve as camp director. Quimpo has served as a national and international clinician during her career, working alongside United States Olympic softball players and coaches, professional athletes and NCAA Division I coaches and players.

NJCU assistant coach CRYSTAL VARGAS, a member of the Puerto Rican National Team, will also provide instruction, along with active members of the NJCU team.

During the clinics, campers will work on aspects of the game: fundamentals of catching and throwing; fielding ground balls and fly balls (infield/outfield); hitting and bunting; baserunning and sliding; drills for both defense and offense; the mental game; motivational aspects; and instructional videos.

Additionally, campers will participate in softball-relevant games, including homerun derby, throwing contests and speed relays.

For more information, or to register an athlete for one or more of the sessions, contact Coach Quimpo at 201-200-2560 or bquimpo@njcu.edu.
