NJCU TO HOST HUDSON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS ON MAY 14

NJCU will play host to the 2009 HCIAA boys' volleyball championship on May 14.

JERSEY CITY, NJ…New Jersey City University will host the 2009 Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic Association (HCIAA) boys’ volleyball championships on Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. at NJCU’s John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center, located on Culver and Westside Avenues.
 
Three-time defending HCIAA champion Bayonne will look to defend its title when it meets St. Peter’s Prep on ‘Charlie Brown Court.’ NJCU also hosted the HCIAA girl’s volleyball finals in October, 2008.
 
This championship marks the fourth that NJCU has hosted in the last year. NJCU’s Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex will play host to the HCIAA softball finals next week.

When the NJCU Women's Volleyball team won the 2005 New Jersey Athletic Conference championship, they became the first Gothic Knight team to win an NJAC women's title.

Bowling, 3 Final Fours
The NJCU Women's Bowling teams has been to the National Collegiate Final Four three times in the first six years of the championship's history. NJCU appeared in 2004, 2006, and 2008, finishing 3rd in 2004 and 2008. NJCU also was fifth in 2005 and 2009.
Men's Basketball NJAC titles
NJCU has won a record 11 New Jersey Athletic Conference championships in men's basketball. Rowan has won 10 and William Paterson 9.
