EBONY BARNES (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth) placed second overall in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 12.36 seconds as the
New Jersey City University women's outdoor track and field team competed on April 10 at the 2009 Rowan University Open. There was no team scoring.
Barnes was second of six sprinters in the finals, narrowly missing the NCAA provisional time of 12.30 seconds. She also surpassed the ECAC standard of 12.80 in the preliminary round when she was third of 12 athletes in 12.63 seconds.
Junior
CANDICE BELLAMY (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.88 seconds and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:35.64).
Freshman
DESERIA SANDERS (Lakewood, NJ/Long Branch) was sixth of 15 in the 400-meter dash, timing 1:01.69 seconds while freshman
MELLISA GOODWIN (Howell, NJ/Howell) was ninth in the 400, running 1:04.98.
Sanders also listed third of seven in the long jump, landing 5.15 meters (16-10.75).
Freshman
DANIELLE COLON (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) was sixth in the 1500-meter run (5:47.40) and eighth in the 800-meter run (2:53.05). Junior
ERIN DOUGHERTY (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) was seventh in the 5000 meters (27:44.08).
The women's track team is back in action on Sunday, April 19 at 10 a.m. in the Collegiate Track Conference Outdoor Championship, hosted by Richard Stockton College in the G. Larry James Stadium in Pomona, NJ.
