- Marley Pena-Guzman averaged 4.64 points, 4.14 kills, 2.29 digs, and 0.57 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Gothic Knights.

JERSEY CITY, NJ…New Jersey City University freshman outside hitter MARLEY PENA-GUZMAN (Atlanta, GA/Central Gwinnett (Lawrenceville, GA)) has been selected as the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Metro Division Rookie of the Week for week three of the 2008 season, in voting by the divisions’ 10 head coaches.
 
Pena-Guzman averaged 4.64 points, 4.14 kills, 2.29 digs, and 0.57 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Gothic Knights. He is the first NJCU men’s player to earn an NECVA honor this year.
 
In a 3-1 (31-29, 23-30, 30-28, 30-24) divisional road win at Bard College on January 30, he delivered 19 kills (19-11-42, .190) and 12 digs for his third career double-double, adding two blocks and an ace.
 
The 6-foot-0 outside hitter tallied 10 kills (10-7-26, .115), four digs and two blocks in three games against Brooklyn College (30-23, 25-30, 30-16, 30-0) on January 31, before the Bridges forfeited the fourth game.
 
Through the first six matches of the season, he led the club in kills (90) and kills per game (3.75), and was second in hitting percentage (.160, 90-54-225), digs (53) and digs per game (2.21). He has added a team-best 98.5 points, 0.33 blocks and 0.17 aces per game.
